An injury accident on I-35 yesterday morning, June 30th, sent two people to the hospital. First responders were called to I-35 southbound at mile marker 201 just before 11:00 yesterday morning, where a vehicle, driven by 27-year-old Brandi Johnson of Wichita, was southbound in the outside lane of traffic, when she struck a work truck, driven by 36-year-old Estruberto Flores, of Palmview, Texas, who was traveling slow on the shoulder, but partially in the lane of travel , as a working vehicle. Johnson’s vehicle spun around in the highway and came to rest facing northbound. She was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Estruberto was taken to AdventHealth Ottawa for treatment of his injuries. Southbound I-35 was closed for a short time while crews work the accident scene.
A second accident occurred as a fire truck responding to the scene from the north, sideswiped a semi truck. No injuries were reported in that accident.
