A three day Fourth of July weekend coming up and lots of grills will be fired up and unfortunately, lots of people will be getting sick because of a number of grilling goofs.

Agriculture Food Safety Expert, Meredith Carruthers, gives us two of the biggest goofs people can make while grilling:

She says you are asking for trouble if you don’t use a food thermometer to get meat and poultry up to a high enough temperature in the center to kill any bacteria. The next biggest goof?

Or using the same platter you took the meat to the grill to bring the cooked meat inside to be eaten, which puts any bacteria on the platter right back onto the meat.

Enjoy the family fun, fireworks and food on the grill, but save the stomach aches and sickness and be cautious of your cooking.
