There was a large emergency responder presence Tuesday night, July 8th, on North Main Street. The Ottawa Police Department was conducting a death investigation after responding to a report in the 800 block of North Main late Tuesday afternoon. Once on scene, they found a 51-year old Ottawa man decease in the residence.
After an initial investigation, it was determined that there was no danger to the community. It was apparent that the man had committed suicide, although the Ottawa Police Chief, Adam Weingartner, says the department will continue to investigate. He says the department offers their condolences to the family of the deceased man and has offered support if needed.
The department was assisted at the scene by the Ottawa Fire Department, Franklin County Emergency Medical services and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
