One topic at this morning’s City Commission meeting concerned the mill levy and if the city is going to exceed the revenue neutral rate in the upcoming budget. Based on what has been said recently, the City of Ottawa might just be revenue neutral. However, Finance Director Melanie Landis cautioned commissioners about the issue she called the most important part of today’s meeting:
Landis says if the valuation does not change, the issue can be addressed prior to the public hearings that will be set soon. The deadline to let the county know if they are going to exceed the revenue neutral rate is July 20th.
