A big resurfacing project is coming up in a couple weeks to tell you about. A Kansas Department of Transportation Resurfacing Project on U.S. 59 in Anderson County is scheduled to begin the week of August 4th. The project will resurface 15 miles of U.S. 59 using a hot-mix asphalt overlay, beginning at the Allen/Anderson county line north to the U.S. 169/U.S. 59 south junction. This is a long term project and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, conditions permitting. If you use this route on a regular basis, you need to plan ahead.

During work, traffic will be restricted and guided by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should be prepared to slow or stop and expect delays of up to 15 minutes. They encourage people to leave early to their destination to assure getting there on time.

Bettis Asphalt & Construction, based in Topeka, is the primary contractor for the $3.75 million project. KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones.
