Last night, July 18th, the Anderson County Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a patient in cardiac arrest at a home in Garnett. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a fatal level of carbon monoxide present in the home and evacuated the scene immediately due to extremely dangerous conditions.

An EMS “All-Call” was initiated to bring in additional personnel and resources. Three additional ambulances responded to assist with the incident and in total, eight public safety personnel and one private citizen were transported to Anderson County Hospital for medical evaluation due to suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.

At this time all individuals are in stable condition and are undergoing further evaluation.
