Thursday afternoon, July 17th, an injury crash was reported on U. S. Highway 56 that resulted in the highway being closed. A Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling westbound on Highway 56 when it attempted to make a U-turn near East 2200 Road. A 2006 Honda Odyssey, also traveling westbound, struck the pickup while it was turning. The two occupants of the pickup truck, a 54-year old Olathe woman and 49 year old Olathe man were transported to Kansas City area hospitals, one of those by helicopter ambulance. As of now they both remain hospitalized. The occupants of the Honda Odyssey were checked at the scene, but were not injured.
