A second Democrat has announced he is seeking the office of Kansas Governor. Marty Tuley from Lawrence, has announced his candidacy. He describes himself as an educator, parent and lifelong Kansan. His priorities include raising public school teacher pay; ensuring two healthy school meals a day for every Kansas public school child; supporting legal cannabis with tax revenue invested in Kansas schools; opposition to private schools receiving taxpayer funds or competing in public school athletics; addressing obesity as a statewide health crisis; and opposition of transgender girls competing in girls’ sports. Tuley says he truly believes Kansas has the geography, the work ethic and the heart to lead the country again in education, agriculture, energy and small business

Tuley joins two other Democrats who previously announced their candidacy for Kansas Governor in 2026. Kansas State Sen. Cindy Holscher and Kansas State Sen. Ethan Corson, of Prairie Village. Eight Republicans have either announced or filed to run for Kansas Governor in 2026.
