The Garnett Housing Authority has a new director. Crystal Decker has taken the job. Since 2014 she worked as an insurance agent gaining extensive knowledge of insurance coverages, risk management services and claims. She says she feels she can do good things in raising awareness and helping clients that call and ask about coverage issues, even taking care of the offices insurance renewal the first week she took office and saw several things that were able to save the housing authority 12.5% on their renewal while adding better coverage options.
She says starting a new career in city government and urban and housing development is just what she needed. Crystal says she loves helping people and creating new relationships. She says she can honestly say without a doubt that God led her to this position – and her heart needed the Garnett residents just as much as they needed her.
She lives in Leroy with her family and is an active member of the Burlington Methodist Church, the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents, the Kansas Livestock Association, and the NRA.
