A man arrested in July of last year for the sexual exploitation of a child, has been sentenced in Franklin county District Court. Jean Ackors had been in jail on charges he was in possession of photographs of children under 18 engaging in explicit conduct. Judge Douglas Witteman sentenced Ackors to 36 months, however, suspended the sentence and placed him on 36 months supervised probations through the 4th Judicial District Community Corrections Program. Ackors must register as a sex offender for 25 years .
In another case, an Ottawa man, convicted of murder and currently serving a 12 year prison sentence for that crime, has been sentenced in a separate case. The case involved indecent solicitation of a child. The offense took place several years ago. Jason Marnell was sentenced to 29 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections for the solicitation charge. He will remain on parole for the rest of his life once released.
