Kansas Governor Laura Kelly is asking for federal support to help counties impacted by severe storms and flooding June 3rd through the 7th, including damage done in Franklin and Osage counties. According to Governor Kelly, she sent a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency asking for a major presidential disaster declaration for the public assistance program. The request is due to damage to public infrastructure caused by severe storms and flooding. Kelly says due to the extent of the damage, it will be important to have federal support available to assist rural electric cooperatives and municipally owned utilities rebuild their electric utility infrastructure.

Besides Franklin and Osage, counties included in the request include… Barber, Butler, Chase, Cowley, Coffey, Greenwood, Harper, Hodgeman, Kingman, Lyon, Morris, Stanton, Sumner and Wallace.
