Court documents in an embezzlement case targeting a Garnett grocery store, say the case hinged on anonymous information provided to the store’s corporate office. Former Garnett Country Mart bookkeeper 47-year-old Megan Wilson, was granted bond Tuesday of $10,000 and assigned state-funded counsel to face 13 felony theft counts and 4 misdemeanors associated with the incident.

A probable cause affidavit obtained by the Anderson County Review, says the store director for Pyramid Foods, Royce Jackson, reported an anonymous tip led store officials to investigate bank deposits of store funds that were under Wilson’s watch as part of her duties as the local store’s bookkeeper. The affidavit says Wilson at first denied any wrongdoing when confronted by Jackson, store staff and Garnett police, but later admitted to taking the money for personal use, a total of $37,000. Wilson’s first appearance in Anderson County District Court will be October 21st at 10:00
