The new Ottawa City Budget calls for a $72 million in authoritative spending. Seems like a lot, and it is, but not all of it will be spent. What if there were a tornado, or other natural disaster to hit Ottawa? Where would the money come from to fix things that were needed to provide basic services? Finance Director Melanie Landis says they don’t plan on spending all the money.
The city did vote to keep the budget revenue neutral, however, also voted to exceed the revenue neutral rates if the county total valuation changed.
