The remains of a Vietnam Veteran who was missing for nearly 60 years have been returned to his home in Kansas. Tech Sgt. Willis Rozelle Hall went missing in March 1968 in Laos after his position on a remote mountain peak was attacked by grenades and mortars. A few hours later, helicopters rescued eight of 19 men. Hall and ten other Americans were killed in action and unable to be recovered. In 2023, personnel from the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and members from partner organizations, discovered unexploded ordnance, incident-related materials, and possible remains from the research site, leading to the identification of a missing American service member. Scientists used modern forensic techniques to identify Hall.

On Thursday, September 11th, Hall, a native of Rose, Kansas., came home. He arrived at Wichita’s Eisenhower Airport and escorted to Fredonia’s Wickham Funeral Home. Saturday, Hall was escorted to Altoona. After a service at the church he was taken to the cemetery for a graveside service and military honors.
