This is Constitution Week and the City of Ottawa officially commemorated the anniversary of the creation of the world’s longest lived written constitution. Linda Fredrick, with the Daughters of the American Revolution:
a few facts… 55 delegates attended the Constitutional Convention, but only 39 signed it. The oldest signer of the constitution was Benjamin Franklin, who was 81. The youngest was Jonathan Dayton at 26 years old. The original 13 colonies were formed from 1607 with Virginia and ending with Georgia in 1733.
Let’s get you thinking…can you name all 13 colonies? Think hard. I’ll get you started. Delaware, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Maryland, South Carolina, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, and….. Rhode Island.
