In the upcoming election, there will be a one cent sales tax question on the ballot for voters in Ottawa. The tax has already been in place for 10 years and is in the renewal phase. Brian Kane, who is a candidate for the Ottawa City Commission believes the sales tax should be renewed, he called it crucial to help maintain streets and infrastructure:
He says if the tax does not pass, property taxes will likely increase to cover the money lost from not collecting the tax. Kane is one of five candidates vying for three positions on the Ottawa City Commission. The election is set for November 4th.
