You may have noticed that the Patriotic Military Banners have been put up and on display the past couple of weeks, in anticipation of Veterans Day activities in Ottawa. The banners honor hundreds of Franklin County residents that have served, or are serving in the military. Liz Louderback represents the group ”Franklin County Honors” who are responsible for getting the flags made and displayed.
When the project started in 2023, there were about 120 banners, that number grew last year and is increasing every year. The banners will be on display through the end of November. Last year, the organizations trailer holding all the flags used for the veterans day celebration was stolen and the flags were dumped in a field, the trailer, gone. A fundraiser will take place next week to help replace damaged flags and the trailer. Tuesday, October 14th, Pizza Village will give 10% of every order to the fundraising effort. Let’s come together to restore what was lost and show our community spirit—one slice at a time!!!
