The lawsuit filed by an Ottawa man against the Franklin County Commission regarding their denial of a special use permit for a floating solar array on property he owns north of town, has been delayed. Counsel for Jason Edwards has asked for a continuance so Edwards can recover from a serious car accident. Edwards nearly severed his hand and has shoulder injuries as a result of the crash and has had several surgeries already to address the issues, as well as experiencing headaches and other injuries. The motion for continuance asks the court to delay the hearings until early in 2026 so Edwards can recover from more surgeries on his hand.

The suit involved his desire to build a floating solar array on an old quarry lake north of town. The commission denied the request for a special use permit in April. A status conference is scheduled for November 4th by zoom for an update.
