One item on the upcoming general election ballot that you may not have heard about is the USD 288 Central Heights School District will have a school bond question. The over 15 million dollar bond proposal aims to make safety & security improvements at the school, address the shortage of pre-k spots for the community’s youngest learners, address the shortage of gymnasium space, and upgrade outdated educational spaces like the vocational agriculture facility. It would include resurfacing the track; a new VO-AG facility; an additional gymnasium, wrestling space, and locker room facilities; a new pre-k education center & playground for our pre-k and elementary students, and safety & security improvements.

There are four community meetings schedule to talk about the bond and answer any questions patrons may have. The first of those will be held tomorrow evening, October 9th, at 6:00 at the Lane City Hall, another opportunity on Friday at 6:00 at the Central Heights Gym. Also, two more a week from today, at the Princeton Community Building at 6:00, the other at the Richmond Community Center at 7:30 that evening. More on the bond proposal in future newscasts.
