October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Several years ago during the covid pandemic, cases of domestic violence increased dramatically as people were isolated in their home more and that trend toward violence has continued and the issue is getting special attention from law enforcement and social agencies who deal with domestic violence victims and perpetrators. Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Richards says the problem is worse than most realize:

If you or anyone you know is a victim of domestic violence, don’t hesitate to speak up, ask for help. Don’t let your suffering or someone else’s go on any longer. There are resources and organizations in our county that can help.
