The City of Ottawa has received an Inflation Reduction Act Grant, known as an IRA Grant to help take down dead trees and replace them with new ones. Greg Morrow with the parks department told commissioners about the grant:

The grant funding was $97,430. The city will bid out the removal of the trees and plant replacement trees in the vicinity of the ones taken out. The Kansas Forest Service identified 267 trees on public property that need to be removed because they are dead or dying. That number does not include trees on residential property.
