The Franklin County Commission has suspended the special use permit for the Great Plains Rifle Range west of Ottawa, citing safety concerns from numerous people who live down range from the facility. At the end of the three hour discussion, commissioners chose to temporarily halt operations at the range pending the planning commission and range owners working with a ballistic engineer to come up with a solution to make it safe for everyone.
