Last week, the Miami County Sheriff’s Department held a graduation ceremony for the 18th session of the Citizens Academy. Over the past nine weeks, participants had the opportunity to learn about the intricacies of the sheriff’s office operations and gain a deeper understanding of the work the officers do each day to serve the community. Sheriff Frank Kelly says they are not only grateful for everyone’s participation, but also the engagement and willingness they had to learn.

Also, the Sheriff’s Department recognized dispatchers Gregory and Druse who had the opportunity to attend the 911 Telecommunicator Equine Wellness and Leadership Workshop in Camden Point, Missouri. The workshop utilized equine-facilitated and assisted learning therapies, allowing participants to directly interact with horses while practicing real-time techniques and theories. These exercises provided immediate feedback to help enhance insight and self-awareness.
