The City of Garnett is encouraging all registered voters to exercise their right to vote on November 4th. There are several important races in the county, including city commission spots, school board positions and a big sales tax issue. Your vote could make a huge difference in the future of Garnett. The funds from the tax are intended to support a new swimming pool, improvements to recreational facilities, and essential infrastructure upgrades in Garnett’s parks and recreation areas. The projects will be prioritized based on community input and available funding.

A sales tax will allow both residents and visitors to contribute, while avoiding property tax increases. It’s estimated that a one cent sales tax would generate approximately $600,000 per year.

The pool was built in 1934, has cracked walls, rusting diving boards, and the aging plumbing and filtration systems have become a challenge over the past several years. A complete list of amenities can be found at “simplygarnett.com”.
