American Legion National Commander Dan Wylie made a historic visit to the Paola American Legion. Wylie, who is from Leavenworth and is the first National Commander from Kansas in 50 years. He was elected the National Commander of the American Legion in August.

Wylie served in the United States Air Force. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law and is a retired State District Judge.

Wylie stopped to visit with legionaries from Miami County and across the region, who came to share dinner with him. Wylie’s stop at the Paola American Legion in September was one of 330 stops he has scheduled during his year as National Commander. Doug Hensley, former Paola American Legion Commander, is his aide.
