The date has been set. Clear your calendar and keep Thursday, December 4th wide open. That’s the day that officials from Franklin County are opening the 1892 cornerstone capsule. The capsule was sealed into the cornerstone at a ceremony on July 4th of 1892. The event is going to be a grand affair that will involve opening the time capsule to reveal it’s contents; but, Franklin County Administrator Derek Brown says they are making it much more with photo opportunities and tours of the historic Courthouse and more.
The plan is to reseal the capsule with items and messages from today, to be opened 100 years from now. The opening of the 1892 cornerstone time capsule. Thursday, December 4th, from 3:00 to 6:00 at the historic Courthouse in Downtown Ottawa. Join us as we take a step back in time.
