Changes were made a few years ago at Ottawa High School. Graduation rates were slipping and Ottawa High School Principal, Kelly Whitaker, saw things needed to change. A new policy implemented called Cyclone Hour, where staff worked individually with students to assure they go where they wanted after high school.
She adds that eight years ago the goal was to get to a 90% graduation rate. Once that was achieved, they wanted to push for more. She calls it a huge testament to all the teachers and staff at the school, as well as parents and students buying into what they are trying to do.
