Did you see a bunch of people gathered around the southwest corner of the Franklin County Courthouse yesterday, November 12th, and wondered what they were doing. They were watching as a restoration crew carefully cut the limestone cornerstone out of the wall of the courthouse to reveal a time capsule. Building Operations Director, Brandon Sands, carefully lifted the copper capsule from the wall and presented it to the public.
The opening of the time capsule will be a public ceremony to be held December 4th at 3:00 in the afternoon. It will feature placing items in a brand new time capsule to placed back in the cornerstone, to be opened 100 years from now. You can submit ideas on what to put in it. Contact the courthouse to share your ideas. Much more to come on this special event.
