The opening of the 1892 time capsule discovered in the cornerstone of the Franklin County Courthouse is coming up on December 4th. After the opening and the big reveal of the contents, county officials would like to replace the old copper capsule with a new one with items from this era. They want your input on what should be placed inside the new time capsule. You can submit ideas online at the Franklin County Kansas Government facebook page and KOFO’s facebook page. You have until Thursday, November 20th, to submit ideas.
A note describing life now, a picture, a book an object that has sentimental value…what do you want to see placed in the new time capsule, to be opened 100 years from now. County officials want to know what the public wants included.
The ceremony to open the 1892 time capsule will take place at 3:00 the afternoon of Thursday, December 4th. There will be a lot of other activities taking place at the courthouse for the entire family.
