The Franklin County Commission will meet this morning with a fairly light, but very important agenda. First, commissioners will discuss and consider approving an agreement with the Kansas Department of Administration so Franklin County EMS can continue to use the state of Kansas Debt Recovery system to collect unpaid, eligible debts. EMS Chief Kristi Hilliker will lead that discussion.
Then the commission will break a tie in the Richmond City Council race from the general election held November 4th. After the county canvas, held one week ago, County Clerk Janet Paddock announced that there was a tie for the open council seat in Richmond.: Jake Akes, Randy Rossman, Kim Gordon, and Mike King all received the same number of votes. State statute says a game of chance needs to be used to break the tie. It will be the luck of the draw, as it is recommended that a name is drawn out of a hat to determine the winner.
You can watch the action unfold at the meeting, held at 8:30 this morning, November 19th, at the County Annex, or watch, as it is live streamed on the Franklin County Kansas youtube channel.
