Nearly 82 million Americans are expected to travel this Thanksgiving – a new record. There’s good news for those driving to their destinations: prices at the pump have fallen in the past week. The average price of gas in Kansas has fallen 2.9 cents per gallon in the past week. Even with the drop, that’s still 4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and also 3.6 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. Gas Buddy experts believe we’re likely to see more relief soon with refinery maintenance wrapping up, especially in the Great Lakes and west coast regions. Oil prices are a little bit lower than last year and that’s another reason gas prices have room to go down a bit more.
Thanksgiving is the single busiest holiday for travel compared to others like Memorial Day and Independence Day. The top domestic destination is Orlando, Florida, and the top international destination is Paris, France.
