A report of a stolen car in Paola has led to the arrest of a man. Paola police report that about 9:40 yesterday morning, November 24th, they received a report of a vehicle stolen from the Park Plaza 66 parking lot. As officers were responding to the area, a Miami County Sheriff’s deputy observed the vehicle in the 400 block of East Peoria Street. As a result of the investigation, 23-year-old Skyler Chacon was taken into custody for the auto theft.
Police are warning all residents to make sure their vehicles are locked and secured. The stolen car was left unlocked, running and unattended at a gas station. With cold weather approaching, law enforcement everywhere want to remind citizens to secure their vehicles in all situations and never leave it unlocked. A huge majority of vehicle thefts in this area are due to them being unlocked and the keys in them, and oftentimes running. Be safe at all times and lock your car.
