The Annual Ottawa Christmas Parade and tree lighting ceremony will take place Saturday evening, November 29th, in Downtown Ottawa. Ottawa Main Street Director Sarah Stauffer says there are other activities planned that day and even more coming up in the near future.

It’s also Shop Small Saturday, a national movement created to bring awareness to small locally owned businesses. The Christmas season is a very important time for small businesses. It’s a reminder that there are prime shopping opportunities right here in our community. The small businesses where we work, live, and play offer unique gift-giving possibilities, without having to go out of town. Plus, your money stays in Ottawa. Of every dollar spent at a locally owned business, about 70 cents stays local and every dollar spent at a big box store, less than 35 cents stays local. Online spending nets almost zero for the local economy.
