Franklin County has made several big improvements at the transfer station to keep operations running safely and efficiently. The most noticeable change is the replacement of the old bullpen with a new free-standing structure. The new bullpen helps keep trash from blowing off trailers, making the site cleaner and easier to work around. The road and bridge department handled the dirt work and driveway prep, Yutzy Construction built the structure, and funding came from the Solid Waste Special Caps Fund, which still has more than $1.5 million set aside for future needs.
In addition to the new bullpen, the transfer station has upgraded its computers and replaced the scale stands, helping operations run more smoothly for everyone who uses the facility. Franklin County officials appreciate everyone’s patience during these upgrades and looks forward to continuing to provide reliable solid waste services for residents.
