The Ottawa City Commission is trying to figure out how they want to allocate funds from the transient guest tax. Finance Director Melanie Landis outlined a couple different scenarios for commissioners. She suggested allocating up to $25,000 a year for events that would bring in visitors from out of town to Ottawa:
Commissioners decided to adapt a flexible framework for the first year and allow applications throughout the year, with a more rigid application process for the following year.
