USD 368 Paola School District Elementary Teacher of the Year is Cori Flynn. She teaches fourth grade at Sunflower Elementary School. Before becoming a teacher, Flynn earned a degree in accounting from the University of Central Missouri. She eventually completed her teaching degree at Ottawa University. Flynn student taught in Louisburg, where she created connections with teachers at Rockville Elementary. She started teaching in Paola as a substitute for the computer teacher at Cottonwood Elementary. That eventually led to a full-time position there before moving over to Sunflower Elementary. She has taught third grade, gifted education and fourth grade, where she teaches all core subjects.
Flynn says she enjoys introducing students to technology. She recently was awarded a $3,500 grant that allowed her to acquire a set of sphero global challenge robots for her students to compete with. Congratulations!
