Next week’s Ottawa City Commission Meeting, December 10th, will be a special one in two different ways. First, it will be the last meeting for longtime commissioner Sara Caylor, who chose not to run for reelection this past year. The City of Ottawa will recognize her contributions to the commission in a special ceremony at Wednesday’s meeting. Caylor has served on the commission since 2011, served four terms as mayor, and serves on various committees across the state as well as a board member for the League of Kansas Municipalities.
Also at the meeting, the person taking her place on the commission will be sworn in. Tim Van Leiden was elected to the position in the general election in November. He is a long time Ottawa businessman who is eager to serve and help the community develop and grow. The meeting will be held Wednesday night at 7:00 at City Hall.
