The Trump Administration is once again threatening to withhold SNAP funding from several U. S. states, including Kansas, if they don’t hand over personal information regarding the recipients of SNAP benefits in the state. Kansas is one of several state who are refusing to do so. Governor Laura Kelly says it’s put her in a tough situation:
It’s not the first time funding has been threatened. Back in September, Kansas was notified they would lose $10 million in SNAP funding, however, Kelly appealed the decision. The USDA says it’s not targeting benefit money as this time, only administrative funds that are used to run the program.
