Many of you have heard of Captain Candice Breshers, of the Kansas Highway Patrol on numerous news stories on KOFO in the past few years, usually talking about safety in some way. Safe Kids Kansas has presented their highest honor, the Dr. Dennis Cooley Award of Excellence, to Captain Breshears. She has been an active partner in promoting safety since joining the Kansas Highway Patrol in 2006. She has spent her career enforcing safety laws, educating families and caregivers about safety, including the importance of car seats and seat belts, providing information and advocacy for laws that impact the safety of Kansans on our roads, and providing leadership and mentorship for cadets and women in law enforcement professions.
Captain Breshears has demonstrated leadership in both the law enforcement and injury prevention fields for nearly two decades. Safe Kids Kansas officials say in every facet of her career with the Kansas Highway Patrol, she has found ways to prioritize safety education for Kansans, build partnerships, and provide encouragement and mentorship to her colleagues. They consider it an honor to work with Captain Breshears and to bestow her with their highest honor. Congratulations!
