Yesterday, December 16th, was the 81st anniversary of the start of the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. A ceremony was held at the Battle of the Bulge Memorial in Bastogne and included WWII veterans from the battle, and members of congress and European leaders.

On the morning of December 16th 1944, Nazi Germany launched a massive attack on allied forces seeking to divide the unity of the countries and force surrender. Senator Jerry Moran:

The ceremony was at the Luxembourg American Cemetery where over 5,000 Americans are buried. Don’t ever forget theses battles that shaped what our nation is today. Without the brave men and women, many of who paid the ultimate price, we would not have the freedoms that our Great Nation has today.
