The Franklin County Development Council has reacted to the City of Ottawa not extending funding after December 31st. In a media release, they say they are still evaluating which responsibilities will shift to other entities, including the City of Ottawa.

As an organization comprised largely of businesses and industry within Franklin County, FCDC will continue to prioritize existing industry, which is largely outside the scope the city is bringing in-house. The FCDC board stands behind Executive Director Paul Bean and recognizes his ongoing and extensive impact on economic development in the community.

The FCDC board says there are four strategic priorities moving forward. Housing, child care, workforce development and existing industry. They say that each of the four initiatives are crucial to Franklin County and the City of Ottawa. They believe the relationships they have built the last six years under Bean will help them prevail and make measured improvement in each area. As business leaders, they remain committed to the future of Franklin County.
