Thursday night, December 18th, the Miami County Sheriff’s office was notified that an individual received a bomb threat involving Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic School. Although no one was present at the school at the time, all threats are taken seriously. With the assistance of the Shawnee Kansas police department and their bomb K-9, the school was thoroughly checked and cleared.
The sheriff’s office says there is no evidence of any active threat. They are aware that multiple Catholic Schools across the metro area and Ottawa have received the same or similar threats. Throughout the incident, staff maintained coordinated communication with school officials, and out of an abundance of caution, school was cancelled.
They continue to investigate the incident in coordination with local and federal partners. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact crime stoppers, or call 911 or any law enforcement agency.
