A man from Topeka made his wife’s obsession with collecting snowmen come to life recently. After Kathy Duncan passed away in September, her husband, Tuck, was determined for her spirit to live on this Christmas season. Kathy had a collection of about a thousand snowmen figurines that she displayed every year for the past 50 years. At her funeral, Tuck thought…we need to build one more, one last snowman. So, Tuck decided to rent a vacant store at a shopping mall and recruited family members to create an exhibit of Kathy’s snow people.
They wanted to spread joy to everyone and were shocked by the response. Thousands of people visited the store to look at Kathy’s collection and millions more have seen the photos on social media. Tuck says the project cost him about $15,000 and it was worth every penny. The family disassembled the display on Christmas Eve and split the figurines between them, to make new scenes in their own home, keeping Kathy’s snowman spirit alive and well for years to come.
