We told you last week about a Linn County man who faces charges in Bates County, Missouri for abandonment of a corpse in connection with the death of a 13-year-old boy from Pleasanton. Now, the Linn County Sheriff’s office has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death on Airen Andula. Forty seven year-old Damon Leonard has been charged with the crime and was arrested after he alerted authorities that he knew where the body was. Apparently, he had deposited Airen,s body at the bottom of a ravine in Bates County before going back to Pleasanton. He remains in custody on a $100,000 cash only bond with a court appearance set for tomorrow morning,, December 30th, in Bates County Court.
Kansas City, Kansas police have taken over the investigation of the case due to a conflict of interest with local agencies. Police want to pinpoint how the boy died. There are reports that he may have been attacked by vicious dogs owned by Leonard. The investigation continues. Expect more charges to be filed in Linn County as details come out.
