One year ago today, December 30th, the City of Ottawa took over the Great Life Gold Course. The city purchased the course from the Ottawa Country Club Group in 2023, citing the importance of a municipal course in attracting business and industry to a potentially growing city. They hired Rob Mlynar as the new general manager and head golf professional for the course. He told commissioners about some of the improvements that have been made recently:
He added that there were 11,500 rounds played and 6,700 cart rentals. That, along with merchandise and drinks led to a total revenue for the course at $342,000 in only 9 months. He’s hoping for bigger and better things in 2026.
