Kansas will receive nearly $222 million to support rural health care. The funding comes from the Rural Health Transformation Program, part of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” Senator Jerry Moran says it’s a significant investment in rural health care and will help improve outcomes for struggling hospitals, invest in new technology and bolster rural communities. Moran says he worked with fellow congressional delegates to establish the fund. The State of Kansas say the funds will be used to expand primary and secondary prevention programs…secure local access to primary care…build sustainable rural workforce…enable value based care, and harness data and technology.
The funds will support programs like Accountable Food is Medicine, Remote Patient Monitoring and behavioral health, and some believe it will buy time for rural communities to find more sustainable models for healthcare.
