Tomorrow, January 1st, several new Kansas laws will take effect. There will be a change to the 911 system, change advance voting rules, revise insurance code, issue new license plates, and adopt protections for incapacitated adults and their guardians.
House Bill 2110 ends the rule that forced the 911 board to hire a local administrator to handle collections. Senate Bill 4 requires the return of advance voting ballots by 7 p.m. on the day of the election. Senate Bill 42 updates Kansas’ insurance laws. It sets up an online system to check motor vehicle liability insurance and narrows who counts as a “person” for enforcing insurance rules by excluding certain organizations.
House Bill 2201 authorizes the issuance of three new license plates in Kansas. House Bill 2359 adopts the uniform Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act, clarifying which courts handle cross-state guardianship cases so Kansas can coordinate with other states.
