A strange incident was reported, wednesday night, December 30th, in Garnett. About 6:00 that evening, a white box truck was seen at the intersection of Maple street and Park Road, that was leaking a significant amount of an unknown substance. The vehicle continued traveling south to 6th Avenue and then East to Highway 169. What was the substance? No one seems to know. It did create very slippery conditions, with several people reporting sliding through the intersection and several more saying the unknown substance got on their vehicles and would not completely wash off and ruined paint jobs.

Garnett city officials say they are working with Anderson County, K-DOT, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s office to access the situation and have an appropriate response.

Drivers were asked to avoid the intersection for a time yesterday, January 1st, a drying or absorbent agent was put down, still no answers to what the liquid was. Law enforcement in Garnett and Anderson County are asking anyone with any information regarding the truck or the substance involved, to please contact them, or the Anderson County Emergency Management office.
