Last week we told you about a Louisburg teen who was collecting items for the family of Airen Andula, the teen who was tragically killed in Pleasanton. She was able to attend his Celebration of Life on Tuesday, and bring the two younger sisters ‘comfort cubs’, weighted bears that have been successful in providing comfort to grieving children. Sammie Magee started Sammies Toy Drive when she was 15, to support the survivors of the Uvalde School shooting in Texas. She says one of the victims had been a junior Girl Scout and Sammie has been in scouting since kindergarten.

In 2024 Sammie helped families of those impacted by the Kansas City Chiefs parade shooting, and earlier this year she helped members of the Juarez family in Louisburg after Anthony Juarez was killed when a pickup truck crashed into a Louisburg business. It’s not only toys. Sammie collects gift cards for adults and other items of need. If you would like to donate to Sammies Toy Drive, checkout the website. You can also sign up as a volunteer.
