A stream advisory is still in effect for the City of Garnett stormwater drainage system and Lake Garnett. Due to the spill of an unknown chemical on the roadway in Garnett, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued the advisory as a precautionary measure for the potential presence of elevated contaminants within the stormwater drainage system and Lake Garnett. Residents are advised to avoid contact with the affected waters at this time. People and animals should not enter drainage system or the lake until further notice.
The KDHE will rescind the advisory once conditions have been evaluated and contact with the water has been deemed safe.
